John Obi Mikel has been ruled out of action for at least a month after suffering a knee injury.
It is thought the midfielder damaged his medial ligaments during the defeat at Arsenal earlier in the week after a tackle form Arsenal Captain, Cesc fabregas.
Frank Lampard only recently returned from a lengthy layoff, Michael Essien is playing through niggling knee injuries and Ramires is continuing to struggle to adapt to life in England.
Mikel now join Yossi Benayoun and Yuri Zhirkov on the doctors' bench for the blues.
