Unknown Nigeria born Spain based striker, Sani Goringo Abubakar has disclosed to Weekend soccerstar exclusively that his career was almost brought to an abrupt end by activities of his manager who took him to Spain.
He said it took determination for him to move on in his career, he said the manager’s attitude cost him chance to wear Nigeria national team colour.
The top scorer in the 3rd tier of Spain league, Sani Brazil as he is fondly called said he is concentrating on his club career in Spain and hp to lead the team to next level.
WHY DO THEY CALL YOU SANI BRAZIL?
That name was given to me by my admirers in Jos I was told and that they have been calling me the name since I was very young because they say I played like Brazilians among my mates, so since then everybody in Jos and everywhere I go call me Sani Brazil. That was how Brazil becomes my surname.
WHAT ARE THE CLUBS YOU HAVE PLAYED FOR BEFORE NOW?
I played for PPFC IN jos before I came to Jos for trials.
HIS YOUR PRESENT CLUB, UD GALDAR YOUR FIRST IN SPAIN OR EUROPE?
Well, I came here for trials with Athletico Madrid. I was with the youth team when I came here and was doing well. I scored 35 goals for the youth team for three seasons that I played there.
WITH THE FEAT YOU ACHIEVE WITH THE YOUTH TEAM OF ATHLETICO, WERE YOU NOT DISAPPIONTED THAT YOU ARE NOT CONSIDER FOR A CONTRACT WITH MAIN TEAM?
I came to reserve team at age of 16, I impressed them and they are ready to draft me ti the main team but the manager that brought me here scuttled everything, he was demanding for money that was too much. He was just thinking about himself only, the club official lost patience and cut the contract talk off. I regretted the whole thing because I believe if I should play for Athletico main team I will definitely get a call up to National team. The manager almost ruin my career, he took determination and God to revive my career. The Athetico officials and fans love me and want me but the so called manager spoil the show for me.
HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU ENTER SPAIN AT THAT TENDER AGE?
It was a sweet experience been in Europe at age 16, I was excited and wanting to play among the whites. It is a different experience entirely for me.
WHICH TEAM ARE YOU NOW?
I play for UD Galdar in the 3rd division here in Spain.
HOW IS YOUR PERFORMANCE SO FAR?
I am doing well. I joined them this season and I am the leading scorer in the league with 8goals in 10 matches.
WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS WITH THE CLUB?
I want to score more goals to emerge as top scorer at the end of the season, I also want to help the team gain promotion to second division.
ARE YOU THE ONLY NIGERIAN IN YOUR TEAM?
No, we are two. Austin James Obaje from Lagos is here, so I am at home. He too joined this year.
WHAT IS YOUR AMBITION AS A PLAYER?
I am looking forward to doing well and get a bigger team next transfer window.
